Conscious Home is a Calgary-based small business founded in 2007.
Conscious Home was created out of the awareness that sustainable living is a lifestyle that takes time, patience and persistence.
Much of the information out there right now on sustainable living is oversimplified, overwhelming, guilt-inducing, easy to read but harder to adopt.
Conscious Home provides concise, informative, and inspirational services designed not to overwhelm but provide next steps. Our services will invite you to understand the context to our current global situation, think about your impact, but will not flip your life upside-down. Conscious Home exists to empower, guide and excite people to rethink their lifestyle choices in a more holistic manner. We teach sustainable practices by meeting you where you are at, and inspiring positive action.
We are very active in the community as proud members of Calgary Dollars, the Clean Calgary Association and REAP Business Association, a non-profit sustainable business association. We seek to be an example that business does not have to be conducted from a financial bottom line, but can generate revenue while contributing to a local economy, strong community, and in consideration of the environment and resources that sustain it. We believe in serving the community through co-operation, not competition, and being part of a network of sustainable businesses, non-profits, and other organizations that support each other in the larger cause of a better place to live.
About the founder:
Lauren Mangion founded Conscious Home as an extension of her own passion and dedication to lessening human impact and creating a healthier relationship to each other and the natural world. To Conscious Home and its clients, she brings a BA in International Development Studies, experience with several environmental and social-based non-profits, a keen understanding of the potential of sustainable business, and belief in the power of the individual to make change. In her own life, she lives to walk the talk, and is currently pursuing her doctorate in zero waste living and car independence.
